Animal rescue is tough, emotionally, physically, and financially, and only becoming more so with the world’s increasing challenges.

We believe rescues need to help and support each other—for the people and the animals. This is the motivation behind Rescues Helping Rescues—to help others on their mission to save animals, and to highlight organisations already doing amazing work. Nominate an organisation or individual to be featured here, and in our fortnightly e-news.

This week we are introducing Lazzi's Legacy Bird Rescue & Sanctuary, a brand new organisation that focuses on Rescuing, Rehabilitating and Rehoming small birds, with a primary focus on budgies. LLRS was founded in memory of Lasagna (Lazzi), a very special blue budgie who had an injured left wing from a young age.

LLRS is based in south-east Victoria, with a goal to become an official not-for-profit that will eventually expand to include a sanctuary for elderly, and special needs birds. Run by a bird nurse, LLRS spreads knowledge on all topics of bird ownership, including enrichment, diet, and health.
