We take in small pet birds who have come from a wide range of situations. Many are rehomed to us by families; some are surrendered requiring veterinary attention, which we arrange. Others we have seen through actively searching for birds that need help.

There’s no doubt—as any sanctuary would say—there are far too many birds needing help. Laws around breeding, and required standards of care, are minimal, and in too many ways deprive the birds of many of their needs. This is why we are campaigning for legislative change for pet bird welfare and protection.

While we are not veterinarians or qualified animal carers, we are happy to use our years of experience, and what we’ve learned from our vets and other carers and rescues, to help people with advice around their birds’ care, whenever possible. We do not offer medical advice and recommend people contact an avian vet if they have any concerns.
