Bounty
This was the photo on Gumtree. It looks like what breeders typically post. I messaged to see what the situation was.
Not a breeder, just a guy who bought a budgie because it was pretty... no cage, so this clipped, untame budgie has been roaming their room and sleeping on an extension cord, since they were bought a few weeks ago. (Better than a small cage still?)
I offered a home if he could hold the budgie for a few days. Sadly though, first come first served. So I paid to secure the bub, then made arrangements to collect.
When we met to transfer, he handed me the budgie in a box through his car window.
This one is safe, but how many others are bought on impulse from pet shops, without the person having any proper housing or care knowledge?
Budgies, and all other birds, and all other animals, are not objects. They are living, breathing, feeling, intelligent creatures who feel fear and sadness like us. They deserve better.
